Gently Uncover the Stories Your Nervous System Holds

The Many Sides of You: Understanding the Plural Self
Across history, art, and literature, the idea of the plural self—the many voices, emotions, and roles within us—has been a guiding truth. From Shakespeare’s conflicted characters to modern psychology, we see that we are not just one fixed identity but a system of parts, each shaped by experience, survival, and meaning.
Therapy works because it embraces this natural complexity; it helps us listen to these parts—not as problems to fix, but as voices to understand. The inner critic, the wounded child, and the protector—each holds a story, and when we engage with them rather than resist them, healing begins.
Science confirms what artists have always known: self-awareness brings transformation. By working with—not against—our internal world, we move from struggle to clarity, from fragmentation to wholeness. Therapy is not about erasing parts of ourselves but integrating them, allowing us to live with greater confidence, creativity, and self-leadership.
How parts work can help.
Transform & Thrive: Online EMDR & IFS Therapy
About me...
My name is Rob Ormiston, and with well over 25 years of experience in mental health, I bring a compassionate, direct, and grounded approach to the therapy, focusing on Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). My method is based on humanistic ideas that acknowledge each individual’s unique experiences and intuition. Above all, I aim to create a space where clients feel heard, understood, and supported.
My Approach.
Therapy involves feeling fully seen and heard. I wish to generate a nonjudgmental, comfortable atmosphere for open exploration.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) view the mind as an intricate framework with both harmonious and conflicting parts. Each part has a distinctive impact on ideas, emotions, and behaviours. As an IFS therapist, I help clients in comprehending and interacting with their inner dynamics, creating balance and self-leadership.
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
EMDR is a structured method of processing and integrating unpleasant memories. Bilateral stimulation—such as eye movements, sounds, or taps—activates the brain’s innate healing capacities, aiding in the recovery from trauma, anxiety, and other obstacles.
Experience & Background
I have worked in many different kinds of mental health settings, including establishing and directing clinical teams within the National Health Service (NHS), UK. My experience involves developing care plans, supervising practitioners, and integrating psychological frameworks into contemporary settings for delivering mental health services. Moreover, I explore the nuanced connection between mental health and the wider human experience as a former participant and associate of the International Humanities Conference management committee.
A Personalised Approach
Every person’s pathway is unique, and my role is to extend care and respect throughout the process. This therapy isn’t about fixing; it is about understanding our internal family system, relating to our parts in healthy ways, and so rediscovering and developing the self-energy that is available to us. My approach is centred on empathy, patience, and an effort to encourage and establish a more sustained sense of well-being.
